Once home to the great romantic poet Lord Byron, this beautiful historic house is set in 300 acres of parkland with formal gardens, lakes, ponds and waterfalls. The grounds provide the perfect place for a relaxing day out all year round, with fabulous wildlife including peacocks, swans and geese.

Opening times

Grounds: Open all year round 9am - 5pm/dusk (whichever is sooner).

House: Open to the public on Sundays, via house tours.  These take place at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm (subject to demand) and last approximately 45 minutes.

The house is also available for private tours and special events, these must be arranged in advance. Minimum of 10 people per party.

Cafe: The Cafe at the Abbey is open daily, 11am - 4pm (last service 3.30pm).

Shop: The shop is open from April - October, 12pm - 4.30pm and November - March, Saturday and Sundays only, 12pm - 4pm. 



Admission prices


£6 per car. This charge is for entry to the grounds and gardens at Newstead Abbey, and covers all passengers within the car. Entry to the House is via tours on Sundays at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm for an additional £5 per person.
